FINE ARTS WORK CENTER
FAWC is an extraordinary place in Provincetown where artists have worked since 1914. I had two weeks in Studio 13 for a Returning Residency. I took a roll of paper and put it on the floor. Brushes were attached to broom handles with duct tape. The gouache (a water-based paint that dries flat) was in painter trays. I had a blue chair, tulips and a clam shell filled with pink paint. I would stare at the still life in the corner of the 30 x 30 foot room, feel it and paint with ferocious intentionality. The series was made one at a time sequentially.
