Laura Shabott at Four Eleven Gallery, artist Pete Hocking back right.

My training at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston at Tufts ('95 Studio Diploma) prepared me for a multi-disciplinary practice that I explored for twenty years. In 2015, I realized that making paintings and drawings was my true North. A return to a full-time studio practice was made possible through a Romano Rizk Grant from the Provincetown Art Association and Museum and a Returning Residency from the Fine Arts Work Center, both in Provincetown. I am represented by Four Eleven Gallery.

The art colony's seminal artists Hans Hofmann, Robert Henry, Paul Resika, Robert Motherwell and Helen Frankenthaler have influenced me greatly. My mediums are oil on canvas and charcoal/gouache/ink on papers or panels.

I am a teaching artist at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, the Cape Cod Museum of Art and in 2019 Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill.
